He has won Juror’s Pick in 2017 LensCulture Emerging Talents Award. i-D magazine Germany selected him as the “10 Photography Talents you should know.” at the same year.
In 2018, he won Juror’s Pick in Hariban Photography Award and was selected in the finalist of World Photography Awards. He was the finalist of 2019 Three Shadow Photography Award.
His work has been exhibited in SF camerawork, Aperture Foundation Gallery, Somerset House, and The Polygon gallery. His work has been published with SFMOMA, Royal Opera House and Chinese Photographer magazine.

Chaos
Daren started this series by playing with different chemicals and merging multiple alternative processing techniques together into one photograph. He endeavored to bring uncertainty to his work. Let the image develop by itself. However, soon after he would be capable of controlling the uncertainty. Then he acquired a new method to generate random stains. Before long, he would master the skills again. Apparently, creating pure random images is an endless game. However, during the period of chasing the random and control the random. He masters the balance between the two. The random elements in his work like the flowing water. His capacity of controlling likes a container which frames the flowing water. In these works, instead of seeking out stories from other people, Daren uses his personal life as inspirations, and applies his combined knowledge of photography, canvas, and etching to bring us unconventional life imagination.
